Five on Friday

It's been a crazy week and I could not be happier that it's the weekend :) It means I get to "sleep in" till 7am, spend time with my family and get some things done around the house!

ONE: Jeanette had her 9 month pediatrician appointment yesterday.  She's 18lbs, 5oz (50th percentile) and 30 inches long (99th percentile).  She's my tall, skinny girl!  They were already out of the flu shot dose she needed so I have to call back next week and make another appointment.  She didn't need any other vaccines at this visit and she doesn't go back till February for her ONE YEAR appointment.  How is that even possible?!?!

TWO: I ordered my Christmas cards this week.  There was a sale on Shutterfly and I didn't want to miss out!  This is the design I chose and I will post the card with our photos once I get them in the mail to our family and friends.  I wanted to be able to use several of my favorite photos from Jeanette's 9 month photo shoot as well as a few of her newborn pictures since I didn't send out a ton of birth announcements.

THREE: Last Monday the 27th it was two years since we adopted our cat Bradley from Cat Welfare here in Columbus.  He has been such a great addition to our family and is slowly learning to tolerate Jeanette.  I love his night time snuggles, sweet white paws and laid back personality.

FOUR: I ordered a play yard for Jeanette.  I really needed to find a solution to block of certain areas of the house and in a month or less, the Christmas tree.  Since we live in a split level house and have lots of stairs it's become difficult to have too many permanent baby gates.  I liked the idea of the play yard because it can be easily moved around and put away after she goes to bed at night.

FIVE: Two of my friends had babies this week, my friend Megan had her son on Monday and my friend Carrie had her daughter on Wednesday.  Both mom's had perfect labors without any complications, which is such a blessing!  For now, the baby boom among my friends is over and now the fun begins!  Lots of play dates are in the future :)

A weekend of milestones

I cannot believe that it's November already and so much has already changed.  We had our first killing frost of the season here in Central Ohio and it now officially feels like winter weather could arrive any day.....I hate winter.  I would give my left arm to move to warmer climates, maybe someday we will but for now I will brace myself for the cold.

We didn't do anything for Halloween and that was fine with me.  We went out to dinner and came back home to relax.  Jeanette had been sick earlier in the week, I'm not sure if it was just teething or what was going on but she had a fever, congestion and was having a hard time sleeping.  She is still cutting her eye teeth on top and I know those are some of the most painful.  By Friday she seemed fine, but I figured we should probably try to just stay at home.

On Saturday morning I went to a local craft fair with my mom and grandma and had a nice time.  I got a few Christmas gifts as well as some custom ornaments for our family for the tree this year.  When I arrived home Andrew looked like he was ready to rip his hair out.  Let me preface this by saying he was home with Jeanette for two days this week while she was sick and she wasn't much fun.  But when I arrived home I discovered that she had learned to pull herself up to standing......um what?!?!  She had done this twice while my mom was watching her during the week but I thought maybe it was a freak thing till she did it again, and again and again!

By Sunday she was trying to climb the stairs and was even cruising a little.  I was in shock at how quickly it seemed this milestone had come.  It seems like the crawling took her a few weeks to master, but now here we are well on the way to walking!

I wasn't ready for this milestone!

And standing at the door.

And trying to climb the stairs!

Sunday morning may have been one of the few times she
wasn't trying to climb something.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to further baby proof the house.  I've had to take most of the stuff off our our end table and I ordered straps for the TV stand so she can't pull the TV onto herself.  I need to figure out something for the stairs because we have this trim work that goes up the stairs making it a bad place for a baby gate to stay stable.

I'm also not sure what to do about a Christmas tree for this year, Andrew says we shouldn't have one (um that is so not happening!) but we can put one in the bay window and maybe block off the area with a few baby gates.

I cannot believe how fast Jeanette has grown and that she will likely be trying to walk pretty soon.  People aren't kidding when they say that the time goes by fast.  The days are long but the years are certainly short as a friend told me over the weekend.
