Haiku Friday - The recap

Haiku Friday

Tuesday night snow storm
Caused a Wednesday snow day
Two inches of ice

layered with some snow
I just called off work, he, he.
Did homework and cleaned.

Still bad out today,
Messy roads, car accidents
plague my drive to work.

No word on the house
but maybe later today.
I must be patient.

Super Bowl Weekend
Can't wait to see Pittsburgh win.
First team with six rings!!!!!

Still no word on the house. Because the weather was so bad here the other realtors office (seller/bank side) didn't have power and couldn't get the fax from our realtor......ugh. I am hoping that we hear something today or Monday, all of this waiting is making me nuts! The roads were a little better on the way to work today, but not fantastic. It took me only 10 mins longer than normal to get here, which is a vast improvement from the one hour commutes I have been having.

My mom has had the last 3 days (including today) off work so she has been driving me nuts! But it is Super Bowl Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm trying to only think about that!

Winter Photography

This is in my neighbor Laura's backyard....we have spent many summers on that swing and playing in that creek. I had some fun with my cheap Olympus photo editing software to make these black and white.

This is the lightpost at the end of their driveway....I think I might make a Christmas card out of this for next year....if I get around to it!

I don't know if I like the sepia on this or not, I might play around with this a little more.

Or maybe this would be a good Christmas card too!

We got about 4 inches of snow and a few inches of ice today. I didn't go to work because of it, they left it up to us if we felt safe to come in and I sure didn't.

Haiku Friday - Home, almost sweet, home!

Haiku Friday

As of yesterday
Offer number one is done
Now we sit and wait

Andrew is buying
a nice fixer-upper home
very close to work.

I have dreamed of this
so long now, it can't be real!
A home of our own.

Well the long process of offers and counter offers have begun with the house I talked about in my post a few days ago. I am just praying that it all works out and we can get this place for a good price and start fixing it up! I am really looking forward to picking out paint colors, decorating and everything else (oh and planting flowers in the spring). Andrew isn't really reacting the same way as I am about this house. I think he is excited just in a different way than me. He is looking at it as an investment because we probably won't live there more than 5-7 years. If we did get married in that time and had more than one child, we would need to move, its just not enough house for all those people!

I'll keep you all updated as the process moves along!

The waiting game......

Things are for sure looking up for Andrew getting the house in Pataskala. If you'd like to read about the house here is the listing information and below is a small picture. I know its not the most beautiful home in the world but I think with some time we can make it work!
Andrew has to go get pre-approved for a loan today and then from there we wait on the bank and then put in an offer. This place needs a lot of work but could sell for double the current listing price once the market picks up again. Its going to be a lot of work to make it totally liveable, but it will be a learning experience and we'll have our own place. One day down the road we will probably end up on the North side of Columbus, but for now I am hoping that we will call Pataskala our home!

The weekend was wonderful too! The Steelers won on Sunday which means we are going to the Super Bowl on Feb. 1st, I think we'll be having a party so stay tuned for details on that! Andrew watched the whole game with me on Sunday, I was so proud of him!!! Saturday was uneventful, Andrew worked another 14 hour day and we didn't get to hang out. I took him lunch at work after my class and did some thrifting and got some nice clothes. I chilled at home the rest of the night and did my PR homework.

Nothing too exciting going on this week, just playing catch-up with some stuff at work! All for now, I'll keep you updated on the house situation!!!!

Haiku Friday

Haiku Friday

Sick of the weather
It's too cold, snowy and gross
Winter is the worst

Work has been stressful
add in school, I have no life.
August please come now.

My haiku is short this week, I am totally unmotivated right now. Its about -20 with the windchill here today....my car didn't even get that warm and didn't really want to go anywhere this morning. I only got about 5 hours of sleep last night too and I will probably be here till about 5 bc I help the accounting department process billing on Fridays now. Did I mention that work is really stressing me out???? Everyone here keeps dumping things on me that they do not want to do and its getting to me big time. Add in all the time I spend doing stuff for school and well its not a good mix of things.

Maybe this weekend I can get some rest, but thats doubtful.......oh well, I will try not to be so negative next week :)

Busy Busy

Whew, am I glad that last week is over with! Things were so hectic. I started back to school after being off for 6 weeks and some odd days for Holiday Break, work was super busy all week long and I was helping out lots of people around the office. My boss has been gone and I'm not sure when she is coming back to the office (her daughter had surgery up at the Cleveland Clinic this week). One good thing though, I don't think my classes are going to be horrible this quarter. I have more time during the week and weekend to get homework done and there are 10 people in my PR class and 3 in my Math class.

The weather was crummy here all weekend, freezing rain all day Saturday making for an interesting drive up to school. None of the sidewalks up to my class had been salted and while carrying a 15lb bookbag I somehow made it up the icy stairs to my class. After it was over I went over to Andrews, we hung out with David and Erica most of the day and I ended up staying the night bc his parents driveway was so icy I could not drive back down it without sliding into traffic on a busy road.

Sunday we got up and went out to breakfast and then I headed home, cleaned up, did homework and watched the Steelers (who are now on their way to the AFC Championship next week!!!). Its funny my whole life I've always been really girly, but football is the one thing "tomboy" about me.....Andrew doesn't even like to watch football, I mean really and he is a pretty big "mans man."

Andrew and I also started looking at houses (yes, again.....) this weekend and thanks to our wonderful Realtor (your dad is the best Caitlyn) for being patient with us and finding all sorts of listings that meet our needs! I'll keep you all updated on the hunt, we will probably go look at some more places on Sunday!

My New Years Goals

For some reason, I hate the word resolution, so I am just going to set goals for myself for this year....ones that I am planning on keeping for once!
  1. Loosing weight - I have been so lazy about working out for the past 3 months....summer it was easy, took a lot of bike rides and spent a lot of time walking outside with Andrew and Bessie, but in winter I have zero motivation! When I got weighed at the doctor yesterday I almost wanted to throw up bc I was almost back to my heaviest weight ever.....I hate that I let it go for this long!
  2. Saving money - I suck at this, really bad.....I eat out a lot and most of my money is spent on that alone. I need to just start setting aside at least a little bit each month so I'm not feeling so guilty. I'm going to start packing my lunch and maybe only allowing myself to eat out once a week.
  3. Graduating - I can for sure make this happen, I have 3 more quarters and there is no reason why I should not finish this time around. Graduation is set for August!
Those are really the only goals that I am going to set right now. If I can meet them or start working on them I could possibly set some more. I really want to work on getting back to my high school weight, which means I need to loose about 20lbs give or take a few. I was doing good this time last year with working out, but I had to quit my gym when I left my other job (got a big discount bc I worked in the town where the rec center was). Now I am joining Curves with my mom for just $10 per month! Plus I can work out at school after my Saturday class or on Thursday nights before my class if I am motivated.

So what goals does everyone else have?

A Hocking Hills Weekend

So this weekend it was back to the place that Andrew and I are going to make a yearly tradition of going to, Hocking Hills State Park! Last year we went in March, weather was rainy but warm and we had an amazing time but only stayed one day.

This time we were able to go from Friday-Sunday and it was wonderful. It was about 50 each day, rare for a January in Ohio and the sun was out Friday and Saturday! Here are some of the photos from the trip!

This is Old Mans Cave, one of the more popular places down there. We took a different trail this time and got to see more things.

This is called the Devils Bathtub and its a natural carving in the rock. Legend says that its so deep that it goes down to Hades....

Some of the pretty ice formations....it was still cold enough down there that we saw a lot of the falls still frozen.

The suspension bridge that leads to CedarFalls, I braved it this time....I hate heights......

One of the new places that we visited Conkles Hollow, this was called the grotto.

Andrew looking out over a ledge at rock house....these were some of the better photos because some of them were dark.

Enjoy the photos I'll post more in a few days I'm sleepy.
