Well, hello again

Hi, it's me, you know the person who used to write on this blog and then decided to fall off the face of the earth?!  Well, I'm back after a totally unplanned absence from writing on here and I've got a lot to catch everyone up on around here!

I haven't written since the beginning of March so here is what has been going on:
  • I got a new job!  My last job was causing me a lot of stress and sleepless nights but I'm back doing what I love and working for a place with amazing benefits!  I don't have a long commute anymore (30 mins in no traffic is better than 45-60 in awful traffic) and I get to flex my hours!  I'm now working 7-3:30 everyday and I LOVE IT!
  • Andrew has been going through a rough time at work and it's been tough for both of us.  I will write more about this later, I promise, but for now I'll just leave it at that.
  • My brother is getting married this weekend, wow that happened fast!!!!
  • I'm hoping to put together a post on my indecision about having children and the conversations that I've had with various people in my life.  I really need to write it down and start working out what I want to say.
  • I've been married now for a little over six months and let me tell you, it has not been easy.  I'm not trying to sound negative, but people aren't kidding when they say that the beginning can be tough.  We've had a lot of ups and downs over these last few months especially and it's not easy about 25% of the time.  We are still very in love and even though it has been hard, when I go to bed at night and kiss him one last time I know this is right where I am supposed to be and that makes it all worth it.
  • I think spring is finally here to stay so that means it's time for me to get to work in my yard and that it's almost time for our annual memorial day party!!!!
Here are some pics as well to catch you up on what has been going on!
Andrew is doing an engine swap in our truck.
Engine on the left is the diesel that's going in and on the right
is the gas engine that came out.

I went on a girls weekend with my sister in law a few weeks
back and we had a blast!

My pets are so flipping adorable I can hardly stand it!

With my soon-to-be sister in law at her bachelorette party
this past weekend.  We had a blast and stayed up till 4am,
which is late for this old lady!

Well there is a small catch up for today, I'll post more this week and catch up on my blog reading too!

So What Wednesday!

I have been longing to do another So What Wednesday and I have been a mega blog slacker, but guess what this week I'm on the ball!  I've been keeping up with my blog reading and commenting and hopefully more than one person will comment on my blog today!

So What Wednesday

So this week I'm saying so what.....

If I swore I would get back on WeightWatchers this week and I've been a totally horrible eater.  I know I will feel better if I just follow the plan.

If my hubby said he would also buy me new workout equipment but I still don't know what I want.

That I'm still driving my mildly wrecked car, but got the insurance assessment done and now just need to make a body shop appointment.

That all I can think about is summer, being on our boat, maybe getting the house done, going camping and eating outside.  Then today we get another snow storm in Ohio.  YUCK!

If I've been a hot mess emotionally and I feel like a total failure with my career.  Something could be changing soon, I can only hope that it will be just what I need!

If all I have been thinking about lately is what life would be like if we never had kids.  I can't seem to make up my mind at all about children and I feel guilty about it in a way.  Too many people are harassing me about when we are starting a family.  Well, what if I decide that day is NEVER?!  UGH, this is such a difficult decision!

If I think I have been sick for a month, I can't seem to breath through my nose right and I look like some creepy mouth breather in the morning.  Did anyone else watch Hey Arnold?!  Remember that kid who loved Holga and would stalk her and breath really loud through his mouth?!  Yeah, that's me!

That my husband won this huge award and we have done nothing to celebrate.  I'm trying to hold off till this weekend and surprise him with something, I just need to figure out what I'm going to do!

What are YOU saying so what to this week?!

A most wonderful weekend and my weekly mantra

This weekend was one for the books!  On Saturday morning, the hubby and I traveled to Detroit for his work awards ceremony.  We knew he was in the top three for mechanic of the year in his region and we were anxious to find out that night if he won.  We arrived at the Greektown Casino, checked into our room and headed down for cocktail hour.  I love being able to go to some of his work parties, they are always a lot of fun with a nice meal, open bar, photo booth and being able to talk to some of the managers and mechanics from other parts of the region that we don't see too often.

The awards portion of the night took a long time (over an hour) and the mechanic of the year was not announced until the very end.  As Andrew's boss read over the top three mechanics and started to read the statistics for the winner my heart felt like it was going to explode....then all of a sudden they called his name, I looked over at Andrew and he still didn't realize it was him and finally jumped out of his seat to walk up to the stage.

On stage accepting his award
When I ran up to take pictures, his boss grabbed my phone and told me to go up on stage too and that I deserved to be up there with him.  I'm so thankful that he has such a wonderful boss who has supported him and guided him through the last four years.  The trophy is a piston from a semi-truck and weighs about 80 lbs, he gets to display it in his shop for the next year and then pass it off to the winner for next year.  I could not be a prouder wife!!!

And now my weekly mantra!

This weekend I got to see my husband accept a prestigious award, gambled and lost a little in the casino and slept in a lovely plush king sized bed.  It was a great weekend!

This week I’m determined to be healthier and get back into my routines!

I believe in believing in myself and doing what is best for me and Andrew.

I’m excited to go to Bon Jovi with my mom on Sunday and to see a good friend for dinner one night this week as well!

I’m addicted to coffee and sleep.  I'm finally over this cold so at least cough drops and cold meds aren't on the list for this week!

I wish that it was spring already!  I'm so over winter right now.

I’m happiest when I stick to my routines and get a good nights rest.

My weekly mantra: Work hard, play harder!

Weekly Mantra - I have sucked at blogging

This weekend I felt like garbage thanks to this laryngitis/ear ache business that I've had going on.  Friday night I spent time with my husband and brother, Saturday I got my hair cut and did a little shopping with my mom and Sunday I tried to get things done around the house but my body had other ideas.

This week will be busy, but thankful not as bad as last week.  I missed two days of work to travel to PA for my grandma's funeral and felt like I never caught back up.

I believe in trying as hard as I can to be healthy this week.  I have got to stop giving in to the junk.

I’m excited that the hubby and I are taking another trip out of town this weekend.  We're headed to Detroit for his work awards ceremony.  I'm hoping that he takes home mechanic of the year!

I’m addicted to cough drops, tea and sleeping, thanks sickness!

I’m wishing for spring!!!  I saw so many signs of the warmer months this weekend: a crocus in bloom, my flowers coming up, robins in our front yard, the buds growing larger on my star magnolia, the sun shining on my way to work - spring is on the way!

I’m happy to have an amazing family.  Last week was hard on us, and I'm just so thankful that we all stick together through the good times and the bad, always supporting and loving one another.  I'm also really thankful for my pets, I know it might sound silly but my cat and dog provide a love to me that is just so wonderful and was just what I needed last week!

Weekly mantra: Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keeps you going!  I must make a healthy lifestyle a habit, I can't keep giving in and giving up!

weekly mantra - the power of three

weekly-mantra-button-1

I'm linking up with one of my favorite bloggers Rachel @ Itsahero for my weekly mantra.   Let me start by saying that this weekend sucked, big time, and bad things do happen in threes.  1) My brother got laid off just three weeks after closing on his house 2) My step-grandmother passed away on Saturday 3) Andrew and I hit a deer on Saturday morning and my car is pretty screwed up, thankfully we are okay and the car isn't totaled.  I'm still pretty shaken up though, considering we live in the country and it could happen again any time.

This week is probably going to be insane, I am so busy at work, will have to take time off to go to a funeral, my car is wrecked and I feel like things are just going to spiral out of control at any moment.

I believe in believing in myself and trying not to be so negative all the time.  I've had a rough few weeks in many areas of my life.  I know I can be happier if I start eating healthy again and work out at least three nights a week.

I'm super excited to get my hair cut this weekend and spend some quality time with my mom.

I wish that I wasn't so emotional all the time, I've been a hot mess for days!

I'm happy to have a husband who puts up with my insanity and my emotional breakdowns.

My weekly mantra: The moment before you are ready to quit is usually the moment right before the miracle happens.  Don't give up.

A few pictures from over the weekend for you as well
