Birthday

Today is the 7th anniversary of my 21st birthday.  You do the math, I honestly feel really old this year for some reason even though I know that I'm not really THAT old.

I don't recall much of my 21st birthday except for some portions of the night, we had a party at my boyfriends apartment, we tried to go to a bar but all my 20 year old friends weren't allowed inside, we made a 1am run to the Taco Bell across the street and someone got pushed through a parking lot in a shopping cart (it wasn't me).  I spent the night on the bathroom floor and I'm pretty sure I didn't go to classes the next day.

Keeping it classy with pina coladas from a red solo cup!
10 years ago on this day, I was about to graduate from high school.  We had graduation rehearsal on my birthday and graduation was the day after I turned 18.  My friends took me to lunch at TGI Fridays and then we went to buy smokes and lottery tickets (I'm such a classy girl).  It's hard to believe that time has gone by so quickly and that I only have two years left in my 20's.

I highly doubt that this year will be an event for the record books.  I didn't even know what to tell Andrew to buy me so I'll probably go pick something out after we go to dinner at my favorite Mexican Restaurant tonight.  But for now I'll muster through a day filled with meetings and look forward to a quiet evening with my husband and a birthday dinner with my family this weekend!

So What Wednesday

So What Wednesday

So what......

  • That I haven't cleaned my house really well for about two weeks and that I'd rather catch up on the DVR in the evenings instead.
  • If my husband is having a love affair with his truck, I'm ready for him to get this engine swap done so we can take our boat out.  If that means he spends his evenings in the garage, then so be it!
  • That I've been having a hard time staying awake until 10pm for the last couple weeks.  Getting up at 5am can be exhausting.
  • If it doesn't feel like the end of May/the day before my birthday.  It was cold over the Memorial Day weekend here in Central Ohio and we didn't have our annual cookout.
  • If I thought my old laptop had maybe bit the dust last night, but it turns out that the charger was unplugged and since the cord is hidden under the couch, I didn't know.....*blonde moment!
  • If I already want to turn on the AC, as long as it's not as cold in our house as it is at my work.
  • If I'm super excited for the weekend because my dad is cooking a brisket for my birthday and he's the most amazing grill chef EVER!
  • If I am all about the Backstreet Boys having their 20th reunion, I was so obsessed with them!
  • That I have and always will love ironing.
  • If after 5 years we still have neighbors two doors down who won't speak to us or wave when they drive by the house.  And so what if I flip them off when they aren't looking while I'm watering my garden.  I have considered marching my booty over there and asking what their problem is but I'm too much of a wuss.

A somewhat uneventful long weekend

Normally, Memorial Day weekend is busy for us.  For the last three years, we have had a cookout on Saturday but this year we skipped our tradition.  Being paid once a month at my new job has been a tough adjustment, I've been super busy with work and far too worn out for a really good housecleaning (which needs done so badly).

Friday night my brother and his wife had a bonfire so we headed over after a lovely dinner at our favorite local diner, The Nutcracker.

Saturday morning I headed to some garage sales with my sister in law while Andrew worked on prepping the diesel engine to go back into the truck.  When I got home, after a day of finding great bargains, I cleaned up and headed to a little get together with my college friends.  Andrew decided to stay home since he needed to cut the grass and finish the engine prep.

Sunday morning I cleaned while Andrew and his brother got the engine into the truck.  I did take a break to snap some photos.

Pushing the diesel out of the garage.

Getting everything aligned

Almost back in the truck.
Later in the afternoon, we headed up to the north side of Columbus for a dinner at Bravo's for my birthday with Andrew's family.  It was delicious (I had the field greens salad and lasagna) and we headed back to Andrew's parents for dessert afterwards.

Monday I was determined to get the rest of my veggies planted and get my errands run and I did!  I bought the rest of my plants and got my tomatoes into their pots and finished up my hanging baskets.  I didn't do much else, I've been exhausted today for some reason so I bathed the dog, did the laundry and watched way too much bad TV.

I hope that you and yours enjoyed the long weekend - here's to the start of summer!

So What Wednesday!

So What Wednesday

Here's what I'm saying "So What" to this week:

  • If Andrew bought me an elliptical last Thursday and I haven't used it yet.  I have every intention of using it, I just have been really sick with a cold and my allergies.
  • I planted some flowers and worked in my square foot bed for the last two nights but have zero motivation to weed the biggest flower bed that I have.  It looks awful.  I have to get it done soon.
  • If I am so freaked out by ticks!  I found a big one on the dog yesterday and about died when I had to pull it off.  For some reason they are AWFUL around our house this year and they never have been before.  Perk of living in the country.....NOT!
  • That I cancelled our annual Memorial Day party because I've been so busy at work and this whole getting paid once a month thing has really been a burden.  We've also been putting my check in savings in an attempt to get out of debt.  It needs done but it's still depressing.
  • If I just figured out how to schedule posts for a few of the pages that I manage on Facebook.....I knew there was a way to do it and I'm so glad I finally figured it out.
  • If I am obsessed with shows having anything to do with The Amish and Polygamy.  "Breaking Amish" and "Polygamy USA" are so addicting!
  • If I also still love "Deadliest Catch"
  • That I haven't been able to smell or taste anything for almost a week thanks to this dumb cold and my allergies.  Thankfully I'm feeling better I would just like all of my sensory functions to start working again.

Weekend in Review

My weekend started early this week, despite my denial, I got the upper respiratory sickness that has been floating around at work.  I tried going into work on Thursday and ended up leaving early, around 11 and coming home to sleep.  Friday morning, I woke up and made another attempt to go to work but I was coughing so hard and feeling so awful that I couldn't bring myself to get ready for the day.  I called in sick again and spent the day trying to rest while doing a few little things around the house that didn't take much energy.  By Friday night I was starting to feel a lot better and when Andrew got home from work, we decided to go out for an early dinner so he could get home and cut the grass.

Saturday we were up with the sun to head to some garage sales, which were disappointing and after only an hour of driving around in the misting rain, we gave up.  We headed up to Andrew's parents that day to visit with everyone since we had not been able to go up last weekend.  Andrew and his dad did some messing around together most of the day and his mom and I separated the dahlia bulbs that we dug up from the wedding.  Of course, I forgot them and I'll have to wait till this weekend to get them and bring them home to plant.  We didn't get home till 8pm on Saturday night and ordered a pizza on our way back and ate on the deck.  We saw about 10 hummingbirds on our pink blooming bushes (I have no idea what they are called despite trying to find them in my gardening books) which prompted me to remember to get out my hummingbird feeder.

Sunday we did our typical cook a nice breakfast, watch the news, make grocery list and then go to the grocery store routine.  I've really been in a cooking mood lately and LOVE that it's warm enough to use the grill again!  I have two grill dinners planned for the week and I'm already excited about them!  Once we got home, we headed over to visit with my grandma and then came back to cook steaks and baked potatoes on the grill, which were delicious! After our early bird dinner, we headed over the Lowes to get some plants and I was disappointed by the selection this year.  I might need to hit up another garden store to find the things they did not have.

Things shouldn't be as busy at work this week, though I do have some catching up to do from being sick.  I'm glad that my first big event went well last Wednesday, despite a few small issues that were out of my control.

Hope that everyone had a great weekend and has a great week!
